Diabetes is a condition where excess of glucose or sugar is found in the human blood and the person who is suffering from diabetes is called diabetic. The body needs special type of sugar called glucose to provide energy to the body and this glucose comes from foods, which contains carbohydrates such as green vegetable as well as fresh milk and fruits. The glucose formed in the human body has to move in the body tissues that work for the body. This glucose is then stored in the liver from where the insulin enters and allows glucose to enter into the body cell to produce energy. The whole process is known as glucose metabolic. Diabetic Diet:
A good diet is extremely important in diabetes. Diabetic must eat 35 calories per kg of body weight every day. The diabetic diet should also include more starch like bread, vegetable and cereals with non- fat milk. Diet should contain fruits, vegetable, sugar and sweets in moderate level. Diabetics need to be aware of which foods enter the bloodstream quickly and which foods enter the bloodstream slowly. The reason is, the faster carbohydrates enter the bloodstream, and the more sugar will rise. This releases the insulin. Higher levels of insulin in the blood encourage the obesity. Diabetics need to stabilize blood sugar. This allows insulin to be released at a same rate into the blood. This helps to minimize roller coaster blood sugar and the excessive insulin. Diabetics need glucose to absorb into the bloodstream in a more effective manner. The prominent way to do this is to eat foods that enter the bloodstream at a slow entry rate compared to food that enter the bloodstream fast. This is how Glycemic Index works. Higher insulin levels and higher blood sugar are what diabetics want to avoid. Therefore diabetics should eat low glycemic index as much as possible. This can help diabetics to reduce roller coaster blood sugar and insulin levels. The diabetic patient should go for a balanced diet. The diabetics should take the food that contains good protein. In diabetic diet, it is very important to control carbohydrates level because sugar is not the only source of carbohydrates but there are other foods also that contributes to carbohydrates. |
