The Low GI diet, developed for the children or kids are designed in such a way that they are low in Glycemic Index (GI). The diet emphasizes choosing carbohydrates that are lower on the glycemic index and therefore keep blood glucose levels stable. It also helps in controlling unwanted fat among the child or kid. The childhood of the child is protected and the child has less chances of becoming obese. It is about choosing more nutritious carbohydrates generally. Whole grains, pasta, legumes, certain kinds of fruits that are low in GI and gives lots of energy to the child too. The concept is that the kid should not feel hungry when the kid is trying to lose weight because of eating foods which have a low glycemic index that means they are digested more slowly and one will feel fuller for longer too.

Pros and corns:

1. Low GI is essentially a healthy diet. It is teaching the parents about which carbohydrates are healthier.

2. If the parents follow the diet the kid will have more even blood sugar level, which helps with energy and concentration levels. The children feel more light and energetic too.

3. It is easy to follow.

4. It is delicious so that the kid will not feel bad to eat.

5. The foods suggested can be eaten by the whole family and the kid will enjoy having it too.

6. It can be misunderstood. Some foods like watermelon or white rice are considered to be high GI and might be labeled as bad. Whereas foods that are higher in fat like potato chips and chocolate have a low GI and people may think they are free to eat as much as they want.

7. The concept can be difficult to grab. The child may feel bored if it is given in regular base.

8. Talking insulin levels and how it operates in the body is confusing for most people and it is little difficult to do this in the child. Even the word GI is difficult to understand by the parents.

9. There are some researchers who oppose with the idea in terms of weight loss.

Diet chart: As every kids like all junk food, it is very difficult to keep them in low GI diet for long period of time. It is better for the parents to keep an eye on the child's food and try to make the food attractive so that they love the food that the parent has planned for them.
